Grays Harbor 2020 is a shared community vision for the future, and a road map for getting there. Designed for and by the people who live, work, learn and play here, it is also the product of the most comprehensive outreach initiative ever conducted in our community. Over a two-year planning period, residents from every part of the county and from all walks of life shared their insights and suggestions for creating a more sustainable and prosperous Grays Harbor. In all, more than 3,000 ideas were received through community meetings, special events, surveys and the project website.
Under the leadership of a 25-person Task Force, and guidance from more than 100 citizens who participated in strategy teams, community goals and aspirations were transformed into 120 specific action proposals organized into five major vision themes. These themes are the “anchors” of the Grays Harbor 2020 Vision, and serve as framework for the Action Plan. They include:
 Developing state-of-the-art infrastructure and governance systems- Improving and connecting our signature spaces and places
- Preserving and promoting our unparalleled environmental assets
- Fostering and nurturing a diverse and prosperous local economy
- Expanding and enhancing social networks and cultural opportunities
